Mont-de-Marsan / Volfa ’24

Volfa is an anual exercise of the French Air and Space Force. The so-called conventional forces gathered in March 2024 in Mont-de-Marsan for three weeks.

1,000 participants and 50 aircraft, all the same, from several allied countries (United Kingdom, Canada, Greece, Italy, Spain), as well as the three French armies, since the Navy and the Army came to manoeuvre alongside the Air and Space Force, whose Territorial Command (CTAAE) managed the whole from the 118 air base in Mont-de-Marsan.

In the end, VOLFA “24” gave rise to about twenty complex air raids (i.e. 500 sorties), in inter-allied action, spread over a theater covering France, Spain, and the entire Atlantic coast.

The Hellenic Air Force participated with the newly acquired Rafale. This was the first ‘out of country’ exercise they participated in.

All other (tan French and Greek) participants operated from their own homebase.
